After serving 20 years in prison, Roy matured, developed and put his newfound passion in the right direction. He shares his passion by educating and empowering misguided minds. His Peer Health Education Program for infectious disease prevention is designed to make your classroom, facility, and/or institution smarter and safer.
Roy is committed.
He makes an impact by giving meaningful insight into many of the poor life choices that individuals make both physically and mentally. Knowing first hand the mental constraints and pressures as a formerly incarcerated individual allows Roy to relate to and positively influence individuals to think and act differently on disease transmission and prevention.
Roy Eugene Powell, was a lead facilitator of the Inmate Peer Education Program (I.P.E.P) during his incarceration at Ironwood State Prison in Blythe, California. Now applying that knowledge as a consultant under Powell Strong, Roy's Peer Health Education Program explains the function and purpose of the immune system in meticulous and comprehensive detail. Knowing this information allows one to understand the safeguards needed to protect against disease infection and transmission. Areas covered in this program include Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD's including HIV/AIDS), Hepatitis, Tuberculosis, and Diabetes (Types I and II). The results of these teachings allow for decrease in wide-spread infections and knowledgeable insight on the prevention of contracting related diseases in various settings like correctional facilities, foster care facilities, schools, and several communities/organizations.
